What is the difference between cultural knowledge and cultural awareness?

As heritage aspect is an integral part of our educational system, we notice that it is almost accompanied by other cultural aspects to assist us in obtaining the cultural knowledge. In actual fact, any type of knowledge can become too abstract if we do not understand the system of meaning that lies behind those aspects or pragmatics, as well as if we fail to recognize of where and when the cultural differences and similarities exist or occur in our and diverse societies regardless cultural boundaries, ideologies, etc. Therefore, cultural communication demands us to communicate more with people of local and different cultures. It demands us to stand on and recognize their different roles, communication patterns, thinking and backgrounds by sharing their stories, experiences, contributions and ups and downs. To this end, the role of cultural awareness is to pave the way for increasing our curiosity, knowledge, and sensitivity of the cultural diversity. It stimulates us to establish connections by contrasting the attitudes and experiences of different cultures. To cut the story short, the knowledge of differences and similarities can develop humans’ skills to achieve cultural competence by interweaving culture and language education, and in this way it becomes an integral part of any EFL content as suggested by (Tavares & Cavalcanti, 1996; Abu Nuwar, 2007)
